Our Story

When Saturn opened in West Palm Beach, Florida in 1978, co-founders Allen Pearson and Clint Smith made a name for themselves composing jingles and touring with the rock sensations of the moment.

Saturn was a pillar of the Florida recording community by the 1990s, when they hired a bright-eyed classical guitar student named Rob Norris to mop floors. Rob went on to play a key role ushering Saturn into the 21st century, eventually purchasing the studio in 2013. For the rest of his career, Rob was committed to mentoring the artists who came through Saturn, including Rob Jr. (his son) and Alexx Duvall -- the two artists who have taken the reins and are shaping the studio’s next chapter.

Under their direction, Saturn has moved to a new headquarters in New York, where it maintains its 70s character (and equipment) as well as a strong connection to the friends and family in South Florida and beyond who have made this studio feel like home.

About the studio

Our studio is a custom fabricated space in the Ridgewood neighborhood of Queens, NY. The space includes a live recording room, SOTA control room, 2 ISO rooms, a photo/video floor, a print shop, a darkroom, and comes equipped with any tool you might need.

Meet The Team

Artists Alexx Duvall and Rob Norris bring more than 25 years of experience working with both commercial and independent clients to realize ambitious audio and video projects.

Alexx Duvall

Alexx Duvall has been a professional photographer and videographer since 2012. Her roots are in the West Palm Beach wedding industry, where she created both photo and video projects for several wedding houses before pivoting her focus to commercial video agencies. In 2015, she moved to New York where she provides white-labeled photo, video, and design services for several NYC brands and agencies. In addition to her commercial work, Alexx is a respected fine art photographer and videographer known for her emotive images of dancers. Her photos have been featured in numerous publications, including Unveil Journal, Harness Magazine, and Mob Journal. Since 2018, she and Saturn co-director Rob Norris, have run livingrooms, a creative laboratory and community art space in Queens.

Rob Norris

Rob Norris grew up in the Saturn studios, watching his parents build the business and mentor artists from the day he was born. Early on, Rob developed a keen ability to restore and maintain the studio’s vintage equipment, and soon became a key member of the Saturn team working closely with his father and the Saturn crew as a producer in the studio, in the field, and on set. In 2015, Rob moved to New York where he interned with the recording studio, Room 17, before creating livingrooms with Saturn co-director Alexx Duvall. For the past four years, Rob has worked on countless creative projects in this Queens-based studio with an array of recording artists including. In 2021, he acquired Saturn and relocated the company to New York where he oversees its projects and plans for the next chapter of its history.
